Vehicle bodies are made of several layers of sheetmetal consisting of at least an interior wall and an exterior wall and sometimes another wall in between for more structure. When repairing the body it may be required to repair all of the layers not just the exterior layer.
Never dig into the body of a 45 year old car unless you are willing to fix the horrors it may expose. A small amount of rust or a repaint can’t hide the true degraded condition of what lies beneath.
We have had the DynoJet for just shy of a year now and by the end of the year it will have seen a fair share of interesting makes and models. The DynoJet is great for much more than just finding out how much power or torque a car makes. You can analyze the fuel to air mixture, ignition condition, finding leaks, engine break-in, and even aero dynamic effects on gearing.
This Pontiac Trans Am came to us as a car that had hid a deer 30 years ago and then stored ever since. It has been a long rebuild but they could have never dreamed of a Trans Am like this back in 1971. Almost every part of the car has been vastly improved but the interior and exterior hide off the secret and maintain an original restored look.
The big box from Butler Performance had a big block in it. This engine is fitted with the FAST EZ-EFI fuel injection. The valve covers were restored and powder coated by us with a black texture and then polished.
The first year for the 455 cu in (7.5 L) Pontiac H.O. V8 this car is coming in for a full restoration. Stay tuned it is almost certain there will be loads of goodies going into this one.
